(AHM), and we are listed on the FTSE Index of Britain’s 100 largest
companies.
Our company was formed in 1997 from the businesses of Amersham
International (UK), Pharmacia Biotech (Sweden) and Nycomed (Norway).
Since that time we have divested non-core activities and further
strengthened our two core business groupings through investments,
acquisitions and additional management expertise. In 2001 the company
changed its name to Amersham plc and our businesses became Amersham
Health and Amersham Biosciences.
Amersham is a company with two strong but distinct business groupings,
both working to enable molecular medicine. At the heart of each
business is vision – vision that enables us to see all levels of
life within the human body, from organs, tissues and cells, to the
molecules and biochemicals that make up our genetic structure.
This vision helps our customers to diagnose and treat disease,
to carry out research and to develop new treatments. This vision
helps to continually push the boundaries of medical discovery.
