Amersham believes its commitment to health, safety and the environment
should extend to the communities around its facilities. High standards
of corporate governance and a strong involvement in local community
support and engagement are a feature of the company's business ethics.
Many activities in the communities around our major facilities receive
support, both financially and in kind, particularly through the provision
of staff time and expertise. This is guided by a Charity Policy targeted
on three key areas: education, the environment and medical/healthcare.
The company places much value on maintaining
dialogue with the communities around its facilities. Many sites
now have local liaison committees and links with local politicians
and residents' groups in order to ensure that good channels for
the exchange of information are in place. Regular newsletters and
information sheets are produced at some sites, others welcome visits
from community groups, students and other interested groups.
