Nycomed Amersham
Implementing The Policy
Previous Contents Next
The HS&E policy is being implemented through 1999-2003 at all Nycomed Amersham sites. Implementation is being monitored and data collected during 1999-2000 to provide base line Group figures on matters such as energy usage, lost time accidents, emissions to the environment and waste reduction and recycling.

Performance objectives are being developed at corporate, country and facility levels and a range of feedback mechanisms are being tested for their suitability. Integral to the feedback mechanism will be procedures for carrying out any corrective actions required and preparing guidelines and new standards to reflect best practice. Reports on HS&E performance and progress in implementing the new policy are made to the Nycomed Amersham Board. Summaries of these reports are made available to employees on the HS&E intranet site.

Strictly Regulated By External Authorities

The company is also considering the merits and practicalities of adopting externally verified Environment Management Systems. Pilot studies are ongoing at several locations to examine the implementation of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard. This work will be incorporated into a wider company review of HS&E management programmes, aimed at continuous improvement through setting performance objectives, monitoring and reporting.

It is the intention of the company to provide a stand alone Health, Safety and Environment Report in 2002 and every two years thereafter.
